What is Habitat for Humanity?

Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing organization working to ensure everyone has a decent place to live. Prospective homeowners work with the organization and its volunteers to build their own homes, improving their lives through safer and more affordable housing. What began as a grassroots movement in South Georgia is now a leading global nonprofit organization that serves all 50 states in the United States and 70 other countries worldwide.

Why Does Nissan Partner with Habitat for Humanity?

Nissan and Habitat for Humanity first partnered in 2005, with the donation of 50 Nissan trucks and the mobilization of employees to help rebuild homes after the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The collaboration has endured through the years, with Nissan contributing more than $20 million to Habitat for Humanity projects in the United States and worldwide.

How is Nissan Involved Now?

Recognizing that better housing makes stronger communities, Nissan recently renewed its partnership with Habitat for Humanity . The two organizations are celebrating 18 years “building homes, communities, and hope around the world.” Nissan marked the occasion with a generous $800,000 donation aimed at improving housing opportunities in the places its employees live and work.
